Make no mistake, the real star of the show here at Ajo Golf Course is the unique course design. Our layout is built on naturally flat terrain and features elevated greens. Strategic shot making is required at Ajo Golf Course because all of our greens are fast and small. Our fairways are open but bordered by desert and natural vegetation. If you are prone to errant drives and want to play it as it lies, we highly suggest you bring along an extra “Arizona Bumper” or rock club.
Visitors love the signature hole, number nine, and it’s a 123-yard, par 3 that features water and tall palm trees protecting the front of the green. This is truly a unique course you will want to add to your bucket list while you are in the area!
In the mining hey days the golf course truly was the “Ajo Country Club” complete with golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts and fine dining and dancing in the banquet hall. While the “hey days” may be gone the spirit and the facilities remain and the clubhouse can easily accommodate groups from 10 to 150 with prior notice.
The next time you’re in Ajo and looking for a place to share a beverage with friends make the short drive out to the golf course and enjoy the beautiful setting at the historic ”Ajo Country Club” clubhouse.
